40 Bye-ner's ?

By Anthony Scaperrotta on January 27th, 2012

Sunday's NFC conference football game between the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers was a game for the ages winner take all win or go home. So you could understand players being excited and if you couldn't Vernon Davis forced you too. It was the first touchdown recored in the game an Alex Smith streak pass to Vernon Davis for a touchdown which put the 49ers ahead 7-0. Now we have all seen touchdown celebrations everything from the Randy Moss moon at Lambeau field. Or maybe it was the face full of buttery popcorn by Terrell Owens that you remember. It could of been the Chad Ocho-Cinco or at that time when he had a whit of intelligence Chad Johnson proposing to the cheerleader. Now if you really wanna bring it back what about the Joe Horn touchdown cell phone celebration where he had to call up hit home boys in da trap that he just burned the New York Giants secondary. Although all legal in the NFL to celebrate a touchdown there are certain lines and rules that come along. Vernon's touchdown catch ended with a leap onto the cameraman's platform where he stood there with his arms crossed like a retarded kid in a lunch line. 15 yards later the photo went viral over the web and arguments of if it was necessary to penalize him or not. In the NFL rule book it notes the following rule. A player is not to leave his feet or uses props in the act of a celebration and if the player does so it then is open to a penalty. Which this is understandable but why has the Lambeau leap never seen a flying yellow flag? Experts and Roger Goodell will probably tell you the Lambeau leap is grandfathered in through the NFL anti-fun rules (since its the only touchdown dance grandfathers still find funny.) Although it has been around for many years in the NFL and is a tradition to the cheese head nation. If Davis is gonna be flagged so should Nelson, Driver, Finley, Jennings or Bubba Franks (yeah I brought it back on you guys) for jumping into the stands. Some can even argue the touchdown was over turned and Davis was penalized for the touchdown he didn't even record. Bottom line if their are rules all 32 NFL teams should have to stand by them equally. The NFL in general is a complete botch when it has came to calls this 2011-2012 season. Everything from touchdown catches, possession calls and favoritism towards the Green Bay Packers the NFL officials were shot. The Jake Ballard catch that was ruled out of bounds when you clearly can see otherwise. This is however all hindsight now so lets move on. Bottom line I am a Giant fan, Now that I see the big picture Vernon I feels what you is sayin dawg.
